Rose essential oil has been used for thousands of years to treat skin conditions. Throughout history, rose oil has been extracted using the enfleurage method, which is the process of pressing rose petals with vegetable oil.

However, now Rose oil is most often extracted with solvents and obtained as an absolute. Such an essential oil may contain chemical components and is not considered a therapeutic grade essential oil. It is of lower quality and is used in perfumery.

The steam distillation process that produces Rosa Otto is two-stage and more expensive than obtaining Rose absolute. It takes 60 Rose petals to get one drop of Pure Rose Oil, 60,000 Roses to get 1 ounce! And if the rose essential oil you buy costs less than $175 per 5 ml, then you have to question whether this oil is really suitable for therapeutic work.

Very often, Rose oil is falsified, offering Geranium or Palmarosa oils instead of natural Rose! There are more than 1500 active components in Rose essential oil, which induce nerve cells to produce substances that start the correct processes of all “limping” functions of the body.
