Production method: steam distillation of flowers. The flowers are harvested early in the morning to get the maximum amount of the best quality oil.

The quality of Ylang Ylang essential oil is highly dependent on the timing of the flowers harvest and the distillation process itself. There are at least five different qualities of this essential oil. The highest quality is obtained in the first hour of distillation and is called “complete”, the last portion of poor quality is called “kananga”.
